Then Jacob blessed Pharaoh and went out from his presence. Genesis 47:10 (1-29-11)
Jacob blessed Pharaoh.
Isn’t that backwards? Shouldn’t the sheep herder be bowing to the king?
Not if the sheep herder has been anointed by God. Not if the whole earth will be blessed, not by the royal dude in the palace, but by the herdsman in his tent.
Has anything changed?
Should I be overly impressed with the “high and mighty” when I’ve been called by the Lord Almighty? And should I consider their work more important than my calling?
Nope.
And shouldn’t I be humbled by the fact that God has hidden these things from the high and mighty and shown them to the normal–like me?
[Father, thank You for the amazing blessing of being Your chosen servant. Help me to hold it highly yet humbly, and never settle for doing anything less than what You’ve called me to do.]
