Scared, but…

As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the Lord. (EXO 14:10 NIV, 4-23-14)

We get on them for it, but in this case terrified is the proper response. Could they have really known that God had called Pharoah to this spot? That God was about to part the unpartable? That they’d be saved without getting their feet wet?

Of course not.

But they should have known God was big enough to rescue. He’d shown that already.

So scared to death, sure. But doubting God, no way.

So I guess when God leads me into an uncertain situation, it’s okay to be a little afraid. But I need to chase that fear away with remembrance of past rescues and recognition of His present power.

[Father, continue to teach me to trust you.]
