Now the gates of Jericho were securely barred because of the Israelites. No one went out and no one came in. Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men.” (JOS 6:1-2 NIV, 4-6-14)
What God sees–and asks us to see–is often different from what we see.
Joshua saw verse 1, an impregnable, fortified city. A city that could only be captured by months of prolonged siege warfare, if at all.
God saw verse 2, a city already delivered, and He asked Joshua to see the same.
The question is, what do I see? An impregnable mind? A state or town fortified against the Gospel? Objectives that will take me months or even years of hard warfare?
Or a heart God can change in an instant–with or without my help? People God loves much, much more than I do? Goals of His that are much higher than mine, and all within His grasp?
[Father, teach me to see what you see, to trust you implicitly, and to look to you for my approval more than all others.]
