Bethuel became the father of Rebekah. Milkah bore these eight sons to Abraham’s brother Nahor. (GEN 22:23 NIV, 1-28-14)

Looks like God picked the wrong brother.

I mean, if the plan is to build a new nation, the brother with eight sons trumps the brother with one (even if Nahor does name two of them Uz and Buz).

Of course, God always takes the long view, and is looking more for faith than fertility. So maybe I should be more interested in long-term results than quick, showy ones.
