Know that God has wronged me and drawn his net around me. …
He has blocked my way so I cannot pass; he has shrouded my paths in darkness. (Job 19:6, 8 NIV, 11-13-13)
And the danger appears.
This is a key challenge when God is testing us–or allowing us to be tested. We start ascribing to God the bad that He has merely allowed to get to us. If we’re not careful, He becomes the source of the problem in our minds.
And then, instead of seeing the test as a path to growth, we see it as an obstacle to our success or happiness. That’s the path Job started down here, and it’s a path we are tempted toward when things are rough.
[Father, help me to recognize the true source of my struggles, and to affirm that you are working this to my good. Give me wisdom in the midst of the struggles.]
