you who hate good and love evil;
who tear the skin from my people
and the flesh from their bones;
who eat my people’s flesh,
This is what the Lord says: “As for the prophets who lead my people astray, they proclaim ‘peace’ if they have something to eat, but prepare to wage war against anyone who refuses to feed them. …
But as for me, I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the Lord , and with justice and might, to declare to Jacob his transgression, to Israel his sin. (Micah 3:2-3, 5, 8 NIV, 6-13-13)
Well, we know verses 2-3 aren’t literal, but still. What heinous crimes are the leaders committing that elicits this comparison?
They are tailoring their messages so the people like them instead of telling them the truth from God,. the truths that would lead to repentance. And the results? The ones who are prophesying in order to be liked are destroying their listeners, forsaking their call, and abandoning their source of power. In trying to make the people happy, they are ultimately killing them–and themselves.
[Father, help me to speak the truth the people need to hear, even if it won’t be popular.]
