Hope?

To whom can I speak and give warning? Who will listen to me? Their ears are closed so they cannot hear. The word of the Lord is offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it. …
The bellows blow fiercely to burn away the lead with fire, but the refining goes on in vain; the wicked are not purged out. They are called rejected silver, because the Lord has rejected them.
” (Jeremiah 6:10, 29, 30 NIV, 11-9-12)

To whom can I speak and give warning? Who will listen to me?

Sounds like the question of the day. Is the word of the Lord offensive to most people? Yes. Are the wicked purged from our culture? No, they are acclaimed and celebrated. Should the Lord reject us? No doubt.

But I’m too much of an optimist to totally give up hope. There are some who listen, and God loves remnants. And I can say it better, more passionately. And I can pray more. Love more. Shine more.

God should reject us. But we are still here so there is still hope.

[Father, help us to make the most if what opportunities remain.]
