Have you not just called to me:
‘My Father, my friend from my youth, will you always be angry?
Will your wrath continue forever?’
This is how you talk,
but you do all the evil you can.” (Jeremiah 3:4, 5 NIV, 10-27-12)
Am I different?
In Jeremiah’s day it was simply a matter of behavior. But in ours there is a “complicating factor.” The Holy Spirit.
For us, a change of behavior includes a change in control. We change not just because we try, but also because we cooperate with God’s Spirit. A lack of change may not be because we are not trying, but because we’re not yielding and obeying. A seemingly unrelated obedience may lead to the Spirit change we are needing.
Of course, we always have our part to do. We do have to try. But the ultimate change is supernatural, not natural.
[Father, do your work in my life and help me to yield to your control and power.]
