“How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked.
“Seven,” they replied. (Mark 8:5 NIV, 9-8-12)
This time they were ready.
The first time, when Jesus fed the 5000, the disciples were clueless. This time, when it was a crowd of 4000, the disciples recognized it as another opportunity so they had already done a quick collection and inventory. Their part in this miracle was ready to go.
How many times does God have to work before we’re ready? How often do we have to see it to just go ahead and do our part without instruction? Again.
The disciples didn’t always get it right. But this time, they learned quickly. Would that I could learn in one shot.
[Father, help me to learn on the first lesson.]
