“The word of the Lord you have spoken is good,” Hezekiah replied. For he thought, “There will be peace and security in my lifetime.” (Isaiah 39:8 NIV)

How weird. God has just told Hezekiah that extreme judgment is coming–just not in his lifetime. Hezekiah’s response? “That’s good news. My life will be peaceful.”

How selfish.

And how like me.

But I should not be so uniquely focused on my time.

I should be building for the future, not taking advantage of it,
