Now, Israel, hear the decrees and laws I am about to teach you. Follow them so that you may live and may go in and take possession of the land the lord, the God of your ancestors, is giving you. (Deut. 4:1, 1/12 )

There is a promise, and there is our part. And with almost every promise of God, we have a part.

God had promised the Israelites the Land. But they had to do their part, which in this case was keeping God’s commandments.

And we’re in the same situation. I believe God has some mighty promises for us. But the promises are conditional on us following His decrees, living according to His standards. Praying to Him. Trusting Him. Loving others. Seeking first His Kingdom and righteousness.

God has a plan. We can participate in the plan by living and doing the things He wants us to do. Or we can hinder the plan by ignoring His principles and disregarding His commands.

Help us to live in obedience.
