Sit Down

Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” (John 6:10 NIV, 12-14-11)

In the miracle of feeding 5000, this is where the faith occurred. Have them sit down BEFORE the food arrives or is even possible.

Have the people sit down before Jesus has actually done anything.

Have the people sit down. Only then will Jesus work.

And if He doesn’t? The disciples look like idiots.

It’s stepping out on faith when–if God doesn’t work–I’m ridiculed (which is, by the way, my biggest fear). If God doesn’t act, I lose my influence (another huge fear). And if God doesn’t act, my life goes out of control (fear number 3).

But God, if you want me to have them sit down, I will do it (even if I don’t like it).

[Father, give me the courage to obey.]
