The man went away and told the Jewish leaders that it was Jesus who had made him well. (John 5:15 NIV, 10-14-11))
Apparently, Jesus healed someone who never moved from physical healing to true faith. That’s why he so quickly ran to tattle instead of bearing witness to the Healer.
Thing is, Jesus healed him instead of possibly dozens of others. He stepped over sick people who may have accepted Him as Messiah to reach this one who would not.
Why? I have no idea. But it does teach me one thing. I’m not to help people based on how probable it is they’ll accept the Gospel. I’m to help because they need help. Matter of fact, I’m to help even if, like Jesus in this case, helping ultimately gets me in trouble.
[Father, help me to love and help people unconditionally, just like You do.]
