Be Tired

Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon. (John 4:6 NIV, 9-17-11)

Two things. 1. Jesus got tired.

  1. He let the tired influence His actions. In other words, he acknowledged He was tired and did something about it, modifying His actions to deal with the situation.

How often do I try to push through the tired? Jesus adjusted His plans, even though it meant someone else had to carry His share of the food the disciples went into town to purchase.

In other words, it’s okay to let someone else pick up the slack when you’re tired. Take care of yourself so you can do your best. And who knows, God may even provide some special ministry opportunities to you in your rest, like maybe a woman who comes by the well where you are resting.

[Father, help me to not feel guilty for resting but to view it as part of my ministry.]
