Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet

Jesus said, “You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that.” (John 1:50 NIV, 8-28-11)

Do I settle for too little from God? Do I take the admittedly-amazing things He’s done for me (and our church) and think, “That’s all I can expect. He’s impressed me enough. I shouldn’t expect any more”?

That’s sort of what Nathanael did, and Jesus basically said, “You ain’t seen nothing yet. You think pulling off a simple parlor trick like knowing what kind of tree you were under is a big deal? Wait until I walk on water. Or heal a man born blind. Or rise from the dead.”

[Father, help me to believe You for greater things, things that make what You have done in my life and the life of our church so far seem like minor parlor tricks.]
