Angry or Sad?

Judas did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it. (John 12:6 NIV, 8-25-11)

Did Jesus know Judas was stealing? I’m sure He did.

How do you think it made Him feel? Angry? I doubt it.

I’d go with sad. Sad that Judas was forsaking true riches for a few coins. Sad that he could miss the point so badly.

Earlier in Luke Jesus had said, “When I sent you out without a bag, did you lack anything?” Judas missed that lesson completely. If God’s power was there, so was the provision.

But Judas was so busy worrying about dollars that wealth eluded him.

[Father, help me to pursue true riches, trusting You to take care of the money and stuff.]
