“Speak to Aaron and say to him, ‘When you set up the lamps, see that all seven light up the area in front of the lampstand.’”

Numbers 8:2 (2-22-11)

So, what’s the big deal? Well, it’s a room only one priest enters about once a day. So why not aim the lights so the whole room is illuminated?

Well, a couple reasons.

First, this means the light is all aimed at the bread that is placed on the table each day. Pretty cool symbolism there, considering the Bread of Life and the Light of the World are both Jesus. Nice bit of foreshadowing here

And second, the purpose of the lamp, from the description here, is to light the bread. And the lamp is to be all in on its purpose. Not 5 of 7 aimed at the bread. Definitely not 2 of 7. Not even 6 of 7. All in for its purpose.

All in.

Is that what’s characterizing my life right now?

[Father, help me to be all in for the purpose You have placed in my life. Help me to 100% committed to Your purpose for my life, all out, all the time. Forgive me for the times I settle for anything less.]
