Luke 12:29-31 (Originally written 1-12-11)
“And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Now it’s time to get on to part 3.
See, when this verse (in the Matthew version) first hammered me, what I saw was “Seek first His Kingdom.” Spent twenty years focused on that, ignoring the rest.
Then, a couple years ago, God began to hone in on the second part, His righteousness.
Now, maybe, I’m ready to start living the whole thing: Don’t worry. Trusting God to supply all our needs.
My problem is I like to worry. I’m very, very good at it–though I like to refer to it as “planning” or “analyzing.”
Funny thing is, I spend as much time worrying over God’s stuff (His church) as I do my own. But I spend plenty of time worrying over both.
But it’s time i moved on to trusting. To believing the verse that changed my life. To seek with abandon based on the fact that God’s got my back.
[Father, forgive me for worrying. Help me to trust You to supply “all these things,” both in our family and for Your church. Help me to remember that You know better than I do what Your church needs and when it needs it.]
