Flooding

Ezekiel 47 (Originally written 12-7-10)

47:1 Then he brought me back to the door of the temple, and behold, water was issuing from below the threshold of the temple toward the east

2Then he brought me out by way of the north gate and led me around on the outside to the outer gate that faces toward the east; and behold, the water was trickling out on the south side.

5Again he measured a thousand, and it was a river that I could not pass through, for the water had risen. It was deep enough to swim in, a river that could not be passed through.

9And wherever the river goes, every living creature that swarms will live, and there will be very many fish. For this water goes there, that the waters of the sea may become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes.

That, my friend, is what God working looks like. It starts as a trickle in the church, but as it goes out, instead of diminishing, it multiplies.

And wherever it goes it brings life. Dead Sea becomes Living Sea. Desert become vibrant, verdant. Life, life, life.

Are you doing God’s work?

Is it multiplying as it goes, or contracting and running back to you?

Is it bringing life and joy, or confusion and pain?

Is it changing where it reaches for the good, for life? Is the place better because your “river” runs through it?

[Father, help my ministry to multiply as it moves farther from me. Help it to bring joy and life. And change everyplace we touch for the good, for life. Help the world to be a better place because we ministered in it.]
