Isaiah 41:25-29 (Written 11-24-10)
I stirred up one from the north, and he has come,
from the rising of the sun, and he shall call upon my name;
he shall trample on rulers as on mortar,
as the potter treads clay.
Who declared it from the beginning, that we might know,
and beforehand, that we might say, “He is right”?
There was none who declared it, none who proclaimed,
none who heard your words.
I was the first to say to Zion, “Behold, here they are!”
and I give to Jerusalem a herald of good news.
But when I look, there is no one;
among these there is no counselor
who, when I ask, gives an answer.
Behold, they are all a delusion;
“There was none who declared it, none who proclaimed, none who heard your words.”
God was speaking, warning His people.
But no one was listening. There was no one to pass on the message.
Everyone, including the potential counselors and prophets, were consumed with idols and comfort and self-absorption. Sort of like today.
Unless I choose–and others choose–to listen. To focus more on the message, however difficult, than on comfort and the distractions of a wealthy culture.
[Father, help me to not be pulled too hard by the comforts of this world that I can’t hear your message, whether good or bad, and help me be willing to share that message however it may be received.]
